Threads is rolling out the DM feature for its Web version

Recently, Threads released a new update that allows you to use the private message (DM) feature on the web version. That said, what should you know about it?

The feature is currently in the testing phase

For your information, this is an interesting alternative after the DM feature was introduced on the mobile app almost a year ago. For now, the function is still in the testing phase involving a limited group of users to ensure it works well before being expanded to more users in the near future.

Additionally, through this web version, you can access the Threads inbox by clicking on the paper ship icon on the left side of the interface. All messages, including message requests, a search function and the option to start a conversation will be displayed there. Messages can also be shared with contacts via the “Send to” function found below each post.

Moreover, threads also maintains the same security controls as its app, where you can set who can send messages, whether it's only the contacts you follow or anyone publicly. Overall, the feature set is pretty much identical to what X offers on their platform.

Additionally, Threads announced that the DM feature on the web will be expanded to more countries for users aged 18 and above. In addition, tests for group chat functions and additional security controls will also be conducted in the future to improve the user experience.
