The US ordered Anthropic to cut foreign access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models

The United States of America has ordered Anthropic to cut foreign access to both their Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models, citing the usual “Security Concerns” as the reason. Many are saying this is because they’re afraid the Anthropic guardrails could get bypassed, but it’s also not the first time that AI has been used by hackers.

For all foreign nationals… including at Anthropic

Strangely enough, the order also applies to foreign nationals working at Anthropic itself. While Anthropic have complied, there has been no news yet whether this meant that they were fired as well. To be clear, it also doesn’t mean that all Anthropic products have been suspended for non-US users (although it seems like only a matter of time). Anthropic says that the US are making this to be a bigger deal than it actually is.

What do you think? Will the US eventually order all foreign access to their AI products to be cut as well? We can’t completely rule out that possibility, so it might be a good idea to also explore AI products from other countries as well, especially if you’ve mainly been using just those from the US.
