WhatsApp could release a Status Archive feature soon
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently developing a new feature that will allow you to automatically save expired Status updates. So, what should you know about it?
WhatsApp might follow what Instagram and Facebook did
For your information, unlike Instagram and Facebook, which have long offered an archive feature for Stories, WhatsApp has not had a similar function. Shared statuses will disappear completely after 24 hours and cannot be restored unless the user saves them manually.
Moreover, through this 'Status Archive' feature that is currently being developed, Meta appears to want to make the user experience more uniform across all its platforms, including WhatsApp. Plus, expired Statuses will be automatically saved in an archive section within the app without requiring any additional action from you.
Additionally, this archive will be stored privately on the device and can only be accessed by the account owner. You can open the archive to revisit, organise, or reuse old Statuses at any time. Please note that this feature is optional. You can turn it on or off through the app settings. If turned off, Status will disappear as usual after 24 hours without being saved.
Besides that, the Status Archive feature is still in development and has not been launched to the public. WhatsApp is expected to refine this feature first before officially introducing it in a future update.
