Kaspersky warns many AI-driven cyber threats go undetected in APAC enterprises

At its annual APAC Cyber Security Weekend, Kaspersky revealed that 52% of high-severity cyber attacks often remain undetected for over 90 days, with 31% lasting over 3 months for enterprises in the APAC (Asia Pacific) region. Kaspersky said that they’ve blocked more than 500,000 daily unique malicious files, representing a 7% increase from 2024. No specific numbers were available for Malaysian enterprises though.

Speaking on the event theme "When Speed Outpaces Visibility", Adrian Hia, Managing Director for APAC at Kaspersky, warned that AI-assisted attacks and cyber sabotage are expanding enterprise attack surfaces. This means that hackers are using AI to attack in many more ways than before. 

Over 15,000 malware samples disguised as agentic AI software were detected this year alone. Real-world incidents included disrupting Nichirei Corp's logistics network and paralyzing factory floors across India's manufacturing sector. To mitigate undetected intrusions, which can linger for up to 4 years, Kaspersky is highlighting its HuMachine Intelligence philosophy, which combines 20 years of machine learning telemetry with human expert analysis.
