Proton e.MAS spent over RM40 million on Malaysia's first digital ecosystem and EV infotainment system
PRO-NET, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PROTON Holdings Berhad, announced an investment of over RM40 million to develop local digital infrastructure and advanced vehicle platforms through the Proton e.MAS series.
For your information, this major investment is focused on the development of a Telematics Service Provider (TSP) platform, which is fully hosted in TM's data centres. This measure ensures that vehicle data is stored domestically to support the country's digital sovereignty, thus in line with the National Automotive Policy (NAP 2020) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
More remote control functions and a smart infotainment system
Additionally, Malaysia's first in-house developed digital vehicle platform now supports more than 300,000 vehicles, including existing PROTON vehicles. This control ecosystem includes remote control functions, smart infotainment systems, and public charging integration. To date, the system has recorded over 8 million remote control requests for electric vehicles (EVs).
Besides that, Proton e.MAS is the only automotive company to achieve a fully local supply chain for infotainment system hardware and cockpit equipment manufactured in Malaysia. To adapt the ecosystem to the local lifestyle, Proton e.MAS digital services are equipped with full Malay language support, a local navigation system, a Qibla compass, and the TheNoor prayer application.
PRO-NET has invested over RM4 million to improve accessibility for EV owners
Through collaboration with local technology and telecommunications partners such as TM, Maxis, Celcom, Altel, and TnG Digital, this platform has generated annual value in excess of RM10 million for the country's telecommunications ecosystem.
In terms of charging infrastructure, PRO-NET has also invested over RM4 million to strengthen accessibility for EV owners. Through the Integrated Direct Charging Map function, users can now access over 4,300 charging points nationwide, which covers approximately 90% of the total public charging network coverage in Malaysia.
To date, the charging platform has recorded around 11,000 registered users with a total net energy transfer reaching almost 790,000 kWh.
