Latvia sends water drone to Ukraine

It is considerably larger than classic aerial drones, as it requires more complex technology. It looks like a small boat equipped with cameras. This device is particularly light and durable, as its body is made of carbon fibre.

This drone is included in the Ukrainian aid shipment for the second time and is entirely designed and manufactured in Latvia. Both in the spring and now, the drones were manufactured by the company NEWT21, and its manager, Jānis Garisons, said that in the spring, a catamaran-type drone was sent, but this is a combat drone, which is more intended for surveillance.

This marine drone has already covered a distance of 100 kilometres at sea in test mode, but it can cover a total distance of up to 700 kilometres.

The drone can be controlled autonomously, with a mission programmed into it, or remotely. It can also be used in particularly complex combat conditions. Garisons added that such drones can be used not only in the military field, but also for water research.
