China mocked India's exam scandal, but the Gaokao has its own cheating crisis

When China's embassy took a dig at NEET, the Gaokao looked flawless by comparison. Biometrics, drones, criminal penalties. But in 2024, over 7,000 people were punished for Gaokao fraud. In 2015, parents rioted when authorities tried to crack down. China didn't build a seven-year prison sentence for cheating because the system was clean. Both exams have cracks.
