  • The device was launched in 2025 at Rs 1,29,999
  • Even in 2025, the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers great value

Amazon is all set to host its Prime Day Sale 2026 in India from July 4 to July 6, exclusively for Prime members. During the 72-hour shopping event, the ecommerce giant will offer massive discounts across several categories, including smartphones. While there are still a few days to go before the sale begins, Amazon has already revealed some of its biggest deals, including one on Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

So, if you've been waiting to buy Samsung's flagship phone without paying flagship prices, this Prime Day sale could be the perfect opportunity. Amazon has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will be available for Rs 84,999. That's a straight discount of Rs 45,000 from its launch price of Rs 1,29,999.

But that's not all. Along with the discounted price, you can also avail of up to 10 per cent instant discount using SBI and Axis Bank cards, exchange offers, No Cost EMI options and 5 per cent cashback with the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card.

That certainly sounds tempting. But in 2026, with the newer Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra already on the market, does buying a year-old flagship still make sense? The short answer is yes- for the right buyer. While the Galaxy S26 Ultra brings improvements in performance, AI capabilities and camera processing, those upgrades may not be significant enough for most users to justify paying a higher price.

Why should you buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra during the sale?

Even nearly a year after its launch, the Galaxy S25 Ultra continues to be a flagship in every sense of the word. It comes with Samsung's premium titanium design, a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, a 200-megapixel primary camera, dual telephoto cameras, S Pen support and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. So even by 2026 standards, it remains one of the most complete Android smartphones you can buy.

In fact, when we reviewed the Galaxy S25 series, we found the Galaxy S25 Ultra to be exceptionally fast, with smooth multitasking, excellent gaming performance and dependable battery life.

The display continues to be one of the best you'll find on any smartphone. The 200-megapixel primary camera, versatile zoom system and Samsung's image processing also continue to impress, by producing sharp, detailed photos across different lighting conditions. Add Galaxy AI editing tools and years of software support into the mix, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra still delivers a premium flagship experience.

For anyone upgrading from a three- or four-year-old phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will still feel incredibly fast. Whether you're editing photos, recording 8K videos, gaming for hours, multitasking between multiple apps or simply streaming Netflix, the experience remains flagship-grade.

In day-to-day use, most people are unlikely to notice a dramatic difference between the S25 Ultra and the S26 Ultra unless both devices are used side by side.

The biggest deciding factor: Price

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung's latest flagship, and it undoubtedly offers newer hardware, smarter AI features and a more refined overall experience. But for many buyers, those upgrades may not be enough to justify paying a higher price. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, delivers almost the same flagship experience for considerably less money.

At Rs 84,999, the phone enters a completely different value category. Instead of being a flagship purchase, it becomes one of the strongest premium Android deals available this year. You still get Samsung's flagship display, top-tier cameras, S Pen functionality, powerful performance and years of software updates, while saving tens of thousands of rupees compared with buying the latest Ultra model.

So, should you buy it?

If you always want Samsung's newest flagship, the latest Galaxy AI features or plan to keep your phone for five or six years, the Galaxy S26 Ultra remains the obvious choice. It packs a newer Snapdragon processor, upgraded AI capabilities, improved camera processing, faster charging and a slimmer design. Samsung has also introduced a handful of software features that are currently exclusive to its latest flagship.

However, if your goal is simply to buy one of the best Android smartphones available without overspending, the Galaxy S25 Ultra makes a compelling case.
