by Auto Today · India TodayTesla has expanded its footprint in India with the inauguration of a new Experience Center in Bengaluru’s Whitefield, further strengthening its presence in the country’s premium electric vehicle market. The new facility, located at VR Bengaluru in Mahadevapura, officially opened its doors on May 14, 2026, and also marks the debut of the newly launched three-row six-seater Model Y L in the city.
The company said customers visiting the new Experience Center will be able to experience both the standard Model Y and the all-new Model Y L, which has been introduced in India at a starting price of Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Tesla claims the Model Y remained the world’s best-selling vehicle between 2023 and 2025, while the new Model Y L has been developed as a more family-oriented offering with enhanced space and practicality.
Alongside the showroom launch, Tesla has also announced the commencement of after-sales service operations in Whitefield, aimed at improving ownership support for customers in Bengaluru. The move comes as the EV maker continues to build its retail and service network across major Indian cities.
Positioned as a premium electric family SUV, the new Model Y L features a three-row six-seat layout designed to maximise cabin space, headroom and passenger comfort. Tesla says the SUV offers a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 681km on a single charge and can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 5 seconds.
Tesla highlighted the global safety credentials of the Model Y lineup, noting that both the Model Y and Model Y L have secured top safety ratings from organisations including NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand, and CIASI in China.
The company also emphasised its Supercharging technology, stating that the Model Y L can recover up to 288km of driving range in just 15 minutes under compatible fast-charging conditions. Tesla added that home charging solutions will also be supported in India to make EV ownership more convenient.
With the opening of the Whitefield facility, Tesla now has customer touchpoints in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram as it gradually expands its operations in the Indian market.
