In Short

  • iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max launch soon
  • Apple likely to bring new colours, improved performance
  • iPhone Fold may launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series

Apple is unlikely to launch the next generation of iPhones for at least the next couple of months. But this hasn’t stopped rumours from surfacing online regarding the iPhone 18 series. However, leaks indicate that Apple may be changing things this time around. It is believed that Apple may launch the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year, with the vanilla iPhone 18 likely being pushed to 2027.

But what does the tech giant have in store with the iPhone 18 Pro series? While Apple has not given any information on its upcoming devices, thanks to rumours, we do have some clue about what we can expect. From new colours to improved performance, and some new camera features, here is everything we know about the iPhone 18 Pro so far.

iPhone 18 Pro design and colours

While Apple brought a big design change on the iPhone 17 Pro last year with a large camera plateau, the company is expected to not be working on another big change for the iPhone 18 Pro.

As per reports, the iPhone 18 Pro will likely have an identical design to its predecessor, but with one key difference – colours. The latest reports indicate that Apple is testing four different colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro – dark cherry, light blue, silver, and dark grey.

While it is unclear if all these four colours will make it to production, rumours suggest that the cherry variant may be the marquee colour this time around. It was cosmic orange that took the spotlight on the iPhone 17 Pro. Keep in mind that the iPhone 18 Pro may come with a single-tone design on the back, unlike the two-tone look we saw on its predecessor.

iPhone 18 Pro display and performance

Apple may not be tweaking much in terms of design, but you can expect a bigger change on the front of the iPhone 18 Pro. Rumours indicate that the Dynamic Island may be as much as 35 per cent narrower this year. This could be a noticeable change, as it would free up more screen real estate on the top.

Though do note that Apple is rumoured to remove the Dynamic Island entirely with a 20th anniversary edition iPhone in 2027.

Coming back to the iPhone 18 Pro series. The display sizes are likely to be carried over from the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. While the iPhone 18 Pro could keep a 6.3-inch panel, the Pro Max may stay at 6.9 inches. However, Apple is tipped to use new LTPO+ panels that could be more power-efficient.

iPhone 18 Pro performance and battery

As is the case with the iPhone, Apple will likely be using its own chipsets to power the iPhone 18 Pro models. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to run on Apple’s yet-to-be-announced A20 Pro chipset, which as per reports may be built on TSMC’s 2nm process. This could make the A20 Pro as much as 15 per cent more powerful and 30 per cent more efficient than last year’s A19 Pro chipset.

Power is not the only aspect where the iPhone makes it difficult for the competition – battery life too has become a strength. And the case is expected to be no different for the iPhone 18 Pro. Leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max may carry a battery between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh, up from the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 5,088mAh unit. These figures are for the eSIM-only model. The iPhone 18 Pro Max model that we get in India will likely come with a marginally smaller battery as it would likely have a physical SIM try.

Battery details for the iPhone 18 Pro remain unclear, but we can expect a similar increase in capacity. Pair that with the efficiency gains from the A20 chip and the new LTPO+ display, and we can expect some major gains to battery life.

iPhone 18 Pro cameras

As per reports Apple may be planning for some big upgrades to the camera setup. The company will likely keep a triple camera setup for both phones with three 48-megapixel sensors – a main, an ultrawide, and a 4x telephoto.

The company is reportedly testing a variable aperture main camera, which would let you control how much light reaches the sensor. There are also rumours that Apple may be trying a new three-layer stacked image sensor from Samsung. This could help improve responsiveness and widen dynamic range. The 48-megapixel telephoto camera is also tipped to get larger aperture for better low-light shots.

On the front, you can expect to get the 18-megapixel centre stage selfie camera that we saw on the iPhone 17 series.

iPhone 18 Pro Siri and expected features

Apart from the specs, you can expect some improvements on the software front too. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to run on iOS 27 which may come with the big Siri update. The revamped Siri will likely run on Google’s Gemini models, and come with more features.

Another new feature that may make its way to the iPhone 18 Pro is expanded satellite support beyond emergency use. This would allow you to access the internet over satellite in areas without network coverage.

iPhone 18 Pro launch and expected price

Usually, Apple launches the latest iPhones in September, and this is expected to be the case for the iPhone 18 Pro too. Keep in mind that if the launch does happen that month, then it would be the first iPhone launch for Apple with John Ternus at the helm. Ternus will succeed Tim Cook as Apple CEO on September 1, 2026.

And there will be a lot to unwrap. Apart from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, the company is also expected to launch the first-ever foldable iPhone in September.

But what about the price? While there is little information available on the pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max right now, Apple may keep them unchanged from last year. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro was launched in India at Rs 1,34,900, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max setting you back by Rs 1,49,900.

The iPhone Fold on the other hand, may cost around $2,400 (roughly Rs 2,30,00) in the US.
