In Short

  • A20 Pro chip could bring faster performance and better power efficiency
  • Pro Max battery may cross 5,000mAh, though exact figures still vary
  • Dynamic Island may shrink, giving the front a cleaner appearance

We are one day closer to the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series. No, Apple has not made anything official yet, but September is traditionally the month when Apple launches its new generation of iPhones, and we are expecting the same in 2026. However, this year we might not see the entire series get its new successors. Reports suggest the vanilla iPhone 18 and the second-generation iPhone Air could arrive next year. So, this time, the focus will likely be on the Pro models and the much-anticipated iPhone Fold.

Here, we are keeping our focus on the Pro models and, more importantly, the price tag they could carry in India. If the latest leaks are anything to go by, the new Pro models could end up costing more than the iPhone 17 Pro.

iPhone 18 Pro launch price could be higher than iPhone 17 Pro

So, how much Apple might ask you to pay for iPhone 18 Pro? Well, There are different figures doing the rounds for the India pricing. One set of leaks suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro could start at around Rs 1,39,900, which would be about Rs 5,000 more than the iPhone 17 Pro's launch price of Rs 1,34,900. Other rumours point to a bigger increase of Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, depending on the variant and market.

Storage could push the price even higher. Reports suggest the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro may cost around Rs 1,44,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at about Rs 1,54,900. If these figures turn out to be accurate, the entry-level Pro model would move close to the Rs 1.4 lakh mark, while the Pro Max would sit even further into premium territory.

The reason?

Well, you probably already have an idea where this is going. The RAM crises.

The growing demand for AI means companies are buying more memory for their systems, putting pressure on supply and pushing up prices. Apple has already increased prices for some products in India, including the iPad Air and MacBook Air, but it is still unclear whether the iPhone 18 line-up will follow the same path.

But there is some good news

While the prices could go up, Apple is also expected to bring several upgrades to the Pro models, which could make the higher price a little easier to swallow.

The new generation of flagship iPhones is tipped to be powered by the new A20 Pro chip, reportedly built on TSMC’s 2nm process. The Pro models could also get 12GB of RAM, a smaller Dynamic Island, brighter LTPO+ displays and a larger battery on the Pro Max. Camera upgrades may include a variable-aperture 48-megapixel main camera and a new Samsung stacked sensor. Apple is also expected to introduce its C2 modem and expand satellite connectivity. Design changes are expected to be limited, with most of the major upgrades happening under the hood.

For now, these prices remain rumours and estimates, not confirmed Apple pricing. Once Apple announces the iPhone 18 Pro series and its India prices, we'll have a much clearer idea of just how much more buyers will actually have to pay.
