- iPhone 18 Pro launch is expected in early September
- The new iPhone might comes with a steep price hike
- The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to arrive with A20 Pro chip
We have been hearing a lot about the iPhone 18 Pro lately. From possible price hikes and new colour options to reports that Apple could split its iPhone launch cycle. But when exactly will the phone launch? If Apple sticks to its traditional schedule, the company is likely to host its annual autumn event in early September 2026. That means the iPhone 18 Pro lineup should arrive within the first two weeks of September.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the most likely dates for Apple's 2026 iPhone launch event are Tuesday, 8 September, or Wednesday, 9 September. Based on Apple's launch history, however, 9 September appears to be the stronger possibility. That's because Labour Day in the US falls on 7 September, and Apple may prefer to leave a travel day between the holiday and its annual keynote.
What will Apple launch in September
The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to be the highlight of the September event, but if rumours are anything to go by, Apple could also unveil its first foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, meanwhile, are reportedly being pushed to spring 2027 as part of Apple's rumoured plan to split its launch cycle.
iPhone 18 Pro India pricing
While Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the launch date, the expected price of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup has become just as big a talking point. Apple recently increased the prices of several Mac and iPad models, due to rising component costs, particularly memory chips. Now analysts believe the company could follow the same strategy with its next-generation Pro iPhones.
According to IDC, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could cost up to $200 more than their predecessors.
"My personal instinct says the hike to iPhones may be even higher than what we assumed, perhaps even $200 to the Pro and Pro Max models. I think the days of $50 price increases are over," IDC India Vice President Navkendar Singh said in an earlier interaction with India Today Tech.
If that prediction proves accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro could start between $1,249 and $1,299 in the US, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may carry a starting price between $1,349 and $1,399.
And in India the launch price could cross the Rs 1.5 lakh mark for the first time for a base Pro model.
iPhone 18 Pro features
As for the phones themselves, Apple is expected to focus on meaningful upgrades under the hood rather than a dramatic redesign. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is rumoured to be powered by the new A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC's 2nm process. The move is expected to deliver faster performance, better battery life, smoother gaming and more capable on-device AI features.
The Pro models are also expected to come with 12GB of RAM and launch with iOS 27, bringing smarter Apple Intelligence features, a more conversational Siri, better onscreen awareness and deeper personal context.
Apple is also tipped to introduce its next-generation C2 modem, promising improved connectivity, better power efficiency and potentially enhanced satellite communication features.
Design changes are expected to be subtle, although several reports suggest Apple could further shrink the Dynamic Island by moving some Face ID components under the display. Some reports have even hinted at under-display Face ID technology, although it remains unclear whether it will be ready this year.
Apple is also expected to use a more power-efficient LTPO+ display, while display sizes are likely to remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.
The cameras could see some of the biggest improvements. Apple is expected to retain its triple 48-megapixel rear camera setup, but the main sensor may finally get a mechanical variable-aperture lens. That would allow the camera to control how much light reaches the sensor, improving low-light photography while delivering more natural-looking background blur in portrait shots. Reports also mention a new stacked image sensor, a brighter telephoto camera and a higher-resolution front camera for improved photography and zoom performance.
Battery life is also expected to improve thanks to the more efficient A20 Pro chip, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could receive a larger battery than its predecessor. Apple is also expected to simplify the Camera Control button by removing its capacitive layer while retaining pressure-sensitive controls, making it easier to manufacture and potentially cheaper to repair.
On the colour front, Apple is could refresh the lineup with new colour options. Current leaks point to a headline Dark Cherry finish, alongside Light Blue, Dark Grey and Silver, giving buyers a few fresh choices without changing the overall look of the device.
Do note that none of these details has been officially confirmed by Apple. The launch timeline, pricing and specifications are all based on analyst reports, supply-chain information and leaks.
However, one thing seems clear. Apple is indeed preparing for another early September iPhone launch. The iPhone 18 Pro models are also expected to become more expensive in both the US and India, while this year's biggest upgrades are likely to focus on performance, AI, camera hardware and battery efficiency rather than a complete design overhaul.
