Samsung just launched new wireless earphones called the Galaxy Buds On. They are unlike anything the South Korean major has made before. The Buds On are the company’s first clip-on open earbuds. They are launching first in Samsung’s home market—Korea—at a price of 299,000 Won which roughly translates to Rs 21,000. Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy Buds On will be launched globally at a later date.
Clip-on style earphones seem to be all the rage these days. Big audio players like Sony are already selling it. The LinkBuds Clip are currently available for sale in India for Rs 24,990. The idea with these types of earphones is their open-ear styling which is built for comfort as well as long-time use even during periods of intense activity such as when you are in the gym. The design also allows you to stay aware of your surroundings. There are three parts to it. One that goes into the ear and other that goes behind it. Both ends are joined by a connecting strip.
Samsung claims it studied various ear shapes and data was used to optimise the placement of speakers and batteries in the Buds On. The back features touch controls for key functions such as music playback and call control. Internally, the Buds On feature a TwinBoost speaker and Audio Leakage Reduction technology. They are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 chip and rated to deliver up to 9.5 hours of music playback on a single charge. They boast of high-efficiency Class-D amplifier and Intelligent Clear Call that works with three microphones and Voice Pickup Unit Sensor for voice calls. Hands-free Galaxy AI is available including Gemini Live.
The Buds On also support head gesture for certain tasks including answer or hang up calls, turn off alarms, or read message notifications.
Samsung will start selling the Galaxy Buds On earphones in Korea from October 27 with global availability to follow.
