Caught on dashcam: Car overtakes, speeds up, then plunges into Uttarakhand gorge

A relaxing road trip in Uttarakhand’s Tyuni took a terrifying turn when a car veered off a narrow road and plunged into a nearly 100-foot gorge. The entire sequence was captured on the vehicle’s dashcam.
The footage shows the car overtaking another vehicle, possibly a Ford EcoSport. Shortly afterwards, the passengers start playing loud music inside the car, while the vehicle’s speed increases.
At one point, the driver asks the passengers whether he should slow down. However, they tell him to continue driving at the same speed.
The occupants then continue talking about the vehicle they had overtaken. At one point, they appear to note that the other car was now far below them, suggesting that their vehicle had moved significantly ahead.
Seconds later, the driver appears to lose control of the car. The vehicle crashes into a roadside pole before veering off the road and plunging into the gorge.
The car tumbles down the nearly 100-foot drop as the dashcam continues recording the incident.
The exact cause of the driver losing control remains unclear. While the footage captures the vehicle’s speed increasing and the occupants discussing the car they had overtaken, it has not been established yet whether the two vehicles were actually involved in a chase.
