by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayMahindra has unveiled the Scorpio Lifestyler, its new global lifestyle pickup truck, but buyers in India will have to wait until 2027 to get their hands on it. The company has confirmed that the pickup will go on sale in India by April 2027.
Based on the Global Pik Up concept showcased in 2023, the Scorpio Lifestyler is Mahindra’s latest entry into the lifestyle pickup segment. In India, it will rival the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, while also being positioned as a global product for markets such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler India launch timeline
Mahindra has confirmed that the Scorpio Lifestyler will launch in India by April 2027. The company has not announced an exact launch date yet, but the pickup is expected to reach showrooms sometime before the end of the financial year.
The India-spec model will be sold under the Scorpio nameplate, while international markets will get it simply as the Lifestyler. Mahindra has also indicated that the pickup will be priced below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom), making it considerably more affordable than its key rivals.
What will the Scorpio Lifestyler offer?
The production version retains the rugged design and proportions of the Global Pik Up concept. It gets a large grille, LED headlamps with L-shaped DRLs, vertically stacked fog lamps and a prominent Scorpio nameplate on the bonnet.
The side profile features a double-cab layout, chunky wheel arches, body cladding, roof rails and off-road-oriented tyres. At the rear, vertically oriented LED tail-lamps and a large Mahindra wordmark on the tailgate complete the design.
Mahindra will showcase the pickup in three editions: Valley, Reef and Trail, each designed around a different theme.
The cabin is expected to offer a more premium experience than the exterior suggests. It features a large portrait-oriented touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, physical controls and a three-spoke steering wheel. The complete equipment list has not yet been revealed.
What engine will the Scorpio Lifestyler get?
Mahindra has not confirmed the India-spec powertrain yet. However, the pickup could use the Scorpio N's 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines.
In the Scorpio N, the diesel engine produces 175bhp, while the turbo-petrol unit makes 203hp. The Lifestyler could also use the Scorpio N's six-speed manual and six-speed torque-converter automatic gearboxes.
Four-wheel drive is also expected, given the pickup's lifestyle positioning and off-road focus.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler price and rivals
The Scorpio Lifestyler will be priced below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom) when it launches in India by April 2027. This could give it a significant price advantage over the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, both of which sit above the Rs 25 lakh mark.
So, if you're planning to buy Mahindra's new lifestyle pickup, the wait will last until early 2027, with the Scorpio Lifestyler expected to reach Indian showrooms by April next year.
