  • MWC26 Shanghai set to take place from June 24 to June 26
  • 6G tech, mobile AI to take centre stage
  • Smart healthcare and Formula E also in focus

MWC26 Shanghai, organised by GSMA, is set to take place from June 24 to June 26, 2026. The event will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Ahead of the event, MWC26 Shanghai has revealed different technologies that will be showcased, with a focus on AI, 6G and even motorsport.

A preview of the event outlines four key zones covering smarter living, connectivity, healthcare and mobility. MWC26 Shanghai has a lot in store when it comes to smart connectivity, from hospitals and transport systems to satellite-backed mobile links and electric motorsport.

6G and mobile AI

6G will be at forefront of MWC26 Shanghai

Among the headline themes this year are 6G and mobile AI. At the event, the new Mobile AI Innovation Frontiers Zone will feature AI-powered devices including smartphones, smart glasses and intelligent toys, to show the importance of AI in everyday life.

MWC26 Shanghai will also highlight embodied intelligence. Embodied intelligence refers to intelligent systems with a physical form that can perceive, act and interact in the real world. By combining the reasoning capabilities of large AI models with robotics, sensors and actuators, these systems can see, hear, move and think.

MWC26 Shanghai will present these developments as part of a wider shift in how future cities may function and how people may live.

Satellite links and smart healthcare

Smart healthcare tech will be displayed during the event.

Connectivity will be another major focus through the inaugural Constellations of the Future Zone, which will bring together satellite operators, device manufacturers and industry partners.

The zone will focus on the latest developments and commercial applications of non-terrestrial networks in places where terrestrial coverage remains difficult, including remote regions, mountains and offshore environments.

According to GSMA Intelligence, 110 operator groups, accounting for 67 per cent of global mobile connections, had active partnerships with satellite companies by September last year. Nearly 20 domestic satellite communications companies are expected to present their latest innovations at the event this time around.

In healthcare, the Smart Healthcare Zone will examine how AI and 5G are expanding access to medical services. Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University will present its work on an AI-native hospital through AIMS, aimed at building a Chinese model for large-scale deployment of medical AI. Huashan Hospital of Fudan University will showcase three AI-powered initiatives covering hypertension management, allergy and immunological disease follow-up, and multidisciplinary decision support for gastrointestinal tumours. ZTE and Shanzhen Technology will also present an AI-enabled health examination solution designed to address lengthy report generation, interpretation challenges and quality control.

Mobility and Formula E

Autonomous driving and smart mobility will be a key highlight.

Smart mobility will be a key theme at the Smart Mobility Summit, where visitors can explore L2 to L4 autonomous driving, intelligent cockpits, software-defined vehicles and C-V2X-enabled infrastructure. Low-altitude technologies will also feature, with Xingji Hang (Jiangsu) Technology set to present its STARAIBOX platform for inspection and management across more than 100 scenarios, including forest fire prevention, environmental protection and illegal construction detection.

Formula E will bring its Gen3 EVO race car to the event, giving visitors a look at applications such as low-latency telemetry transmission and real-time team communications. The showcase is expected to highlight how 5G supports both performance and data use in all-electric racing.

MWC26 Shanghai is open to attendees aged 16 and above. Registration is now open, for visitors as well as media and industry analysts. You can register via the official MWC26 Shanghai website.
