After weeks of cryptic teasers centred on the letter "b", Nothing has finally confirmed its next smartphone. The company has announced that the Nothing Phone 4b will launch in India on July 7 at 3:30 pm, marking the debut of an entirely new B Series lineup in its smartphone portfolio.

Nothing confirmed the launch through a teaser on X, where the company stitched together design elements from its existing devices. “Phone 4b. Kept sketching the Phone 4a series and accidentally made a new phone,” reads the announcement post on X by Nothing.

A dedicated Flipkart microsite has also gone live, confirming that the Phone 4b will be available in India through the e-commerce platform.

Nothing Phone 4b specifications

While Nothing has not revealed any specifications yet, the latest teaser and recently shared design sketches provide a glimpse of what to expect. The Phone 4b appears to retain the company's signature transparent design language, complete with visible screws and exposed internal-style elements on the rear panel. The sketches also suggest a refreshed camera layout and a flat-sided design with rounded corners.

One of the biggest talking points, however, is the camera setup. Based on the teaser images, the Phone 4b appears to feature a single rear camera. While that may seem unusual at a time when even affordable smartphones often offer dual-camera systems, it could be a sign that Nothing is aiming to keep costs in check while maintaining its distinctive design language.

As for other hardware, leaks point to a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, a 5,500mAh battery, and upgraded build materials.

Nothing Phone 4b pricing

While Nothing has not announced pricing details yet, it has offered some clues about where the Phone 4b will sit in its lineup. In a recent post on X, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis clarified that the letter "b" does not stand for anything. Instead, the company uses numbers to denote product generations and letters to distinguish different smartphone segments.

"What does (b) stand for? Nothing," Evangelidis said in a post on X.

According to him, the new B Series is designed to expand Nothing's smartphone portfolio while maintaining a clear hierarchy. The A Series will continue to serve as the company's most premium range below its flagship devices, while the B Series is expected to target a different and more affordable segment.

The timing of the launch is particularly interesting. It comes shortly after Nothing confirmed that it would not release a new CMF smartphone this year. Evangelidis said rising component costs, especially memory prices, made it difficult to build a meaningful successor at the right price point. Around the same time, reports suggested that some smartphone projects originally planned under the CMF brand may have been moved to Nothing.

That has fuelled speculation that the Phone 4b could be one of those devices. While Nothing has not confirmed the connection, rumours suggest the handset could arrive as a more affordable offering positioned below the Phone 4a and Phone 4a Pro.

For now, the company is keeping most details under wraps. However, with a launch date confirmed, a Flipkart listing already live and design teasers steadily rolling out, more information about the Phone 4b's hardware, features and pricing is expected to emerge in the coming days.
