Vi users to get free international roaming on certain plans, 3 times a year

Vi is now offering free international roaming with select prepaid, postpaid and enterprise plans. The benefit can be used on up to three trips a year.

Vi is making international roaming free for eligible users. The telco has announced free roaming on select prepaid, postpaid and enterprise plans, which allow customers to use their Vi number abroad on up to three trips a year without paying separate roaming charges. The offer covers more than 170 countries, although the amount of data and outgoing calling minutes included will vary depending on the plan.

Vi says the new benefit could help customers save up to Rs 9,000 a year. It is available on postpaid plans starting at Rs 501, annual prepaid unlimited data plans and enterprise plans starting at Rs 451. According to the company, the new offer is aimed at making it simpler and more affordable for users to stay connected while travelling abroad.

What are the new Vi roaming plans?

Vi has added free international roaming to some of its existing plans instead of launching separate roaming packs. Postpaid plans with the free international roaming benefit start at Rs 501, while prepaid users can get it with select annual unlimited-data plans. Enterprise customers can get it with corporate plans starting at Rs 451. The amount of data and outgoing calling minutes, as well as the validity, will depend on the plan.

Vi users can use the benefit on up to three international trips a year across more than 170 countries.

How to activate Vi Roam-Free

To activate the benefit, open the Vi App and check if your plan is eligible for Roam-Free. Select the “Roam-Free” option, check the roaming benefits available with your plan, and activate it before you travel abroad.

According to Vi, the new free roaming benefit will let eligible customers and their families stay connected abroad without paying separate roaming charges or switching to a local SIM, subject to their plan’s limits. Customers can continue using their existing Vi number overseas to receive OTPs and calls and use mobile data without relying on a local SIM or travel eSIM.
