  • The India pricing may remain close to iPhone 17 Pro series

Apple is likely to launch its iPhone 18 Pro series in a few months, but leaks around the next-generation flagship iPhones have already started building excitement. Early reports suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could bring one of the biggest Pro-series upgrades in recent years. From a redesigned front display to camera hardware changes and a more advanced chip, Apple’s 2026 premium iPhones could be major upgrades for users planning their next purchase. For people wondering whether to buy the current iPhone or wait, the upcoming Pro models may offer enough new features to make the decision harder. Here is everything leaked so far about battery, India pricing, camera, display, design and launch timeline.

Cleaner front design?

One of the biggest changes tipped for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is the display design. Reports claim Apple is working on moving Face ID sensors under the screen. If that happens, the familiar pill-shaped Dynamic Island seen on recent iPhones may disappear.

Instead, Apple could place the selfie camera inside a small punch-hole cutout near the top-left corner. This would give users a cleaner and less distracting display experience. While the overall body design may remain similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series, the front could look noticeably different.

At the back, Apple is expected to continue with its triple-camera setup. However, some refinements to the rear glass and frame finish may be introduced. New Pro colours such as deep purple, burgundy or coffee brown are also reportedly being tested.

Camera

Apple may focus heavily on camera upgrades this year. Leaks suggest the company could introduce a mechanical iris system on at least one rear camera. This would allow variable aperture control, helping users adjust how much light enters the lens.

That means better low-light photos, improved portrait shots and more natural background blur. It could also reduce overdependence on software image processing.

Reports also claim Apple may use a new three-layer stacked image sensor, possibly supplied by Samsung. This sensor could improve capture speed, reduce noise and deliver stronger dynamic range in photos and videos. Larger apertures for the main and telephoto cameras are also expected.

A20 Pro chipset

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to use Apple’s new A20 Pro chip. This processor is said to be built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process.

Apple may also adopt a new packaging technology where RAM sits directly with the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine. This tighter design can improve efficiency, speed and thermal control.

Leaks suggest users may see around 15 per cent better performance and up to 30 per cent better power efficiency compared to the previous generation. This could also improve Apple Intelligence features running directly on the device.

Bigger battery

Battery life could be another major talking point, especially for the Pro Max model. Reports indicate the iPhone 18 Pro Max may become slightly thicker to fit a larger battery.

The device is tipped to pack a 5,100mAh battery, which would be among the biggest ever in an iPhone. However, this may also increase the weight beyond 240 grams, potentially making it the heaviest iPhone yet.

Still, users looking for all-day battery backup may welcome the trade-off.

Display sizes

Apple is unlikely to change screen sizes this year. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to keep a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may continue with a 6.9-inch panel.

There is still confusion over whether Apple will fully remove the Dynamic Island or simply shrink it further. Some sources say only a punch-hole camera will remain, while others believe a smaller version of Dynamic Island may continue.

Launch timeline

Apple is expected to follow its usual release pattern. That means the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are likely to launch in September 2026.

Interestingly, some reports claim the standard iPhone 18 model may arrive later, possibly in 2027, though nothing has been confirmed by Apple.

iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max India price: What to expect

At present, there is no strong indication that Apple will raise prices again for the iPhone 18 series. Since the company already increased pricing for the iPhone 17 lineup, it may choose to keep the next generation stable.

For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,900 in India, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,49,900.

If Apple avoids another hike, the iPhone 18 Pro could launch around the same pricing. However, component shortages, rising manufacturing costs or competition from Samsung could still influence the final numbers.
