Maruti Suzuki dominated India's passenger vehicle market in July 2026, with the Dzire emerging as the country's best-selling car, while SUVs continued their strong run across the monthly top 10 sales chart.

Maruti Suzuki continued its strong grip on the Indian passenger vehicle market in July 2026, with the Dzire emerging as the country's best-selling car. The compact sedan recorded sales of 23,791 units, narrowly edging past the WagonR, while the company occupied six of the top 10 positions in the monthly sales chart.

The latest sales figures also highlight the continued popularity of SUVs, with models such as the Tata Punch, Hyundai Creta, Tata Nexon and Mahindra Scorpio featuring among India's top-selling vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki leads the chart

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire topped the sales chart in July 2026 with 23,791 units, reclaiming the number one position. Close behind was the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which registered 23,338 units, followed by the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV at 21,606 units.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift secured the fourth spot with 21,538 units,

The Tata Punch, including the Punch EV, rounded off the top five with 21,313 units.

SUVs continue to drive demand

Compact and midsize SUVs remained a key growth driver for the Indian market. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx finished sixth with 19,473 units, followed by the Hyundai Creta, including the Creta Electric, which recorded 18,088 units.

The Tata Nexon, along with the Nexon EV, posted sales of 17,471 units, while the Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio N together closed the top 10 with 16,009 units.

Five of the top 10 models were SUVs or SUV-derived vehicles, underlining the segment's continued dominance among Indian buyers.

Hatchbacks remain relevant

Despite the growing popularity of SUVs, hatchbacks continued to attract strong demand. Along with the WagonR and Swift, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno featured in seventh place after selling 18,241 units, demonstrating that hatchbacks still command a customer base.
