JioTag 2 launched in India with Android and iPhone support, up to 2 years battery life

Jio has launched the JioTag 2 in India with support for both Android and iPhone users. The new tracker also promises up to two years of battery life and is priced at Rs 1,249.

After nearly three years of launching JioTag, Reliance Jio has finally introduced JioTag 2 in India. It is a small Bluetooth tracker that can help users find everyday items like keys, wallets, backpacks, luggage or even a bicycle if they go missing. The product comes in direct rivalry with Apple’s AirTag. And the biggest change this time is that the tracker now works with both Android and iPhones, making it much more useful than the first-generation model, which had limited compatibility.

JioTag 2 now works with both Android and iPhone

The biggest upgrade on the JioTag 2 is support for both Google's Find Hub network on Android phones and Apple's Find My network on iPhones and iPads. In simple words, Android users can now use Google's tracking network, while iPhone users can use Apple's Find My app to locate the tracker.

The JioTag 2 connects using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), so there is no need for a SIM card or a mobile data plan. If the tracker moves out of Bluetooth range, nearby Android or Apple devices can anonymously help update its location through Google's or Apple's tracking network. Users can also activate a built-in 120dB speaker from the paired app to make the tracker ring, making it easier to find nearby misplaced items such as keys hidden under the sofa or a bag left in another room.

The tracker also includes a Lost Mode. If someone carrying a compatible Android phone or iPhone comes close to a lost JioTag 2, its location can be updated to help the owner find it.

The JioTag 2 comes with an IP64 rating, meaning it can handle dust and light water splashes. It runs on a replaceable battery that lasts up to one year. Jio is also including an extra battery inside the box, which means buyers can use the tracker for up to two years before needing to purchase another battery.

The JioTag 2 is priced at Rs 1,249 in India and is available in Black, Green, and Red colour options. It can be purchased through Amazon India. Buyers using eligible bank cards can also get up to Rs 50 instant discount, bringing the effective price down to Rs 1,199. The tracker comes with a built-in loop, allowing it to be attached easily to keychains, bags, luggage, or other personal belongings.
