After the declaration of the CBSE Class 12 results, social media platforms saw a wave of discussions around the Board’s on-screen marking system. Many students raised concerns about marks in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, leading to a wider CBSE result controversy online.

In response, CBSE has issued an official statement defending its evaluation process. The Board said the on-screen marking (OSM) system was introduced to make assessment more transparent, fair and consistent across regions and subjects.

The Board also clarified that stepwise marking continues to remain an important part of the evaluation process under the CBSE on-screen marking system.

CBSE EXPLAINS ON-SCREEN MARKING SYSTEM

According to CBSE, the OSM system is designed to bring more uniformity and objectivity while checking answer sheets. The Board stated that the process helps evaluators follow a standard marking pattern while assessing students’ responses.

CBSE said the system was introduced “to enhance transparency, fairness, and consistency in the evaluation process by ensuring stepwise marking”.

The Board added that this method helps maintain equal assessment standards for students across the country.

RE-EVALUATION OPTION AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS

CBSE also reminded students that the re-evaluation process will continue this year as well. Students who are unhappy with their CBSE Class 12 results can apply for copies of their evaluated answer books.

If any discrepancy is found after checking the answer sheets, students can request corrective action through the official process prescribed by the Board.

The Board described this facility as part of its effort to maintain transparency and fairness in the assessment process.

CBSE SAYS EVALUATION PROCESS REMAINS FAIR

The Board once again stated that it remains committed to a “fair, just, consistent and equitable assessment system”.

CBSE also said its evaluation methods are based on transparent and robust practices followed during board examinations.

The clarification comes at a time when many students and parents have been discussing the CBSE Physics marks issue, CBSE Maths marks concerns and questions around evaluation accuracy on social media following the Class 12 result announcement.
