Showers were reported in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad, while hail was also reported in parts of Delhi and Noida.

The change brought cooler winds across the region after a spell of relatively warmer conditions, with the possibility of further showers adding to the uncertainty over the weather in the hours ahead. Haryana also witnessed a spell of unsettled weather, with Hisar reporting rain and hail.

The showers came amid a broader shift in weather conditions across northern and central India, where thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds were expected in several areas. The India Meteorological Department had issued alerts for thunderstorms and rainfall across multiple states, raising the possibility of further changes in local weather conditions.

The sudden spell of rain brought cooler conditions across the national capital and neighbouring areas, with gusty winds and thunderstorms marking a change in the weather. The showers also raised hopes of an improvement in Delhi’s air quality, which had remained in the poor category in recent days. The rain in Delhi-NCR comes amid a wider spell of unsettled weather expected across parts of the country.
