Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 17 series tomorrow in China. The new lineup will include two models, the Redmi Note 17 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro. Just a day before their official launch, the key specifications of both phones have already made their way online. On top of that, some early details about the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 17 have also surfaced.
While Xiaomi hasn't confirmed when the Redmi Note 17 will arrive in India, some early details about the Indian variant have already leaked. According to tipster Abhishek Yadav on X, the phone will be available in at least a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration in the country. It is also tipped to come in at least two colour options, Blue and Dark Night, though more variants could be announced closer to the India launch.
What to expect from the Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro
Starting with the standard Redmi Note 17, the phone is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. It is tipped to sport a large 7-inch Full-HD+ Samsung E4 Pro display with up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness.
Battery capacity is said to be a massive 8,000mAh with support for 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.
On the camera side, the phone is expected to carry a 50-megapixel primary rear camera. Security may come via an optical fingerprint scanner, and the phone could ship with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro steps things up considerably. It is expected to run on a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset and feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K flat display with up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The display is confirmed to come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, which Xiaomi claims can handle a drop from three metres onto marble.
The Pro model is also said to carry a larger 9,000mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging and the same 22.5W reverse charging as the standard model.
It shares the same 50-megapixel primary camera and optical fingerprint scanner, but gets a significantly more robust ingress protection rating of IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. Redmi also claims the Pro has a TV SD certification for being waterproof at two metres for up to 72 hours.
Both specifications above are based on leaked details from tipster Experience More and have not been officially confirmed by Redmi ahead of tomorrow's launch. So, we suggest the reader take it with a pinch of salt.
