The Redmi Note series is back. Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi Note 17 in India. The device targets the midrange segment with a focus on delivering long battery life, paired with a large screen. The Note 17 comes to India just a couple of weeks after it was launched in China.

In case you are curious, like the flagship Xiaomi smartphones, the company is skipping the number 16, and going directly from the Note 15 to the Note 17 series. And here are all the details.

Redmi Note 17 design and display

The Redmi Note 17 takes a completely different design approach to its predecessor. Gone are the curved display and the back panel. Instead, the Note 17 has a large rectangular plastic frame and a flat back. You get a square-ish camera module that comes with an additional element to house the camera and the flash.

Smartphone geeks may notice that the Redmi Note 17 resembles the Mi 11 from the back. The Note 17 comes in three colours – Arctic Blue, Starlight Purple, and Dark Night.

Coming to the front, the Redmi Note 17 comes with a 6.9-inch FHD Plus OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Xiaomi says that the panel covers the DCI P3 wide colour gamut. The device gets a single bottom-firing speaker.

The Redmi Note 17 also packs an in-display fingerprint sensor. You get an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Redmi Note 17 performance and battery

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 17 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, which is built on a 4nm process. This processor is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

But the bigger talking point for the Note 17 is battery life. The device packs a massive 8,000mAh battery, with support for 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Xiaomi says that the battery can retain at least 80 per cent of its capacity after 1,600 charge-discharge cycles.

Redmi Note 17 cameras and everything else

On the camera front, the Redmi Note 17 has a 50-megapixel main rear camera while the selfie shooter is an 8-megapixel sensor. Both sensors can record up to 1080p videos.

The Redmi Note 17 runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3. The company is promising 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches for the device. You also get AI features on the device, such as Circle to Search.

Redmi Note 17 launch and price in India

The Redmi Note 17 starts at Rs 27,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant with the 8GB/128GB model costing you Rs 30,999. You can get bank offers worth Rs 3,000.
