Tecno has launched its latest Pova-series smartphone, the Pova 8, in India. The new handset arrives as the successor to last year's Pova 7, bringing notable upgrades including a bigger battery, a faster display, and a MediaTek Dimensity processor. It also introduces a customisable Alive Matrix Display on the rear panel, a feature that was absent on its predecessor. The smartphone is aimed at users looking for a device that can handle gaming, entertainment, and everyday tasks while offering extended battery life. The Pova 8 is available in multiple colour options and RAM-storage configurations.

Pova 8 specifications and features

The Pova 8 features a 6.76-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 950 nits of peak brightness in High Brightness Mode, and a 1,500Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset built on a 6nm process. It is paired with up to 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The device also includes dedicated G1 and SE1 signal chips to improve network performance and connectivity.

For photography, the Pova 8 comes equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 primary rear camera accompanied by a light sensor. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The camera system supports features such as AI CAM, Portrait Mode, Super Night Mode, Time-Lapse, Dual Video, Vlog Mode, and Slow Motion.

One of the biggest highlights of the smartphone is its massive 8,000mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging. Tecno claims the battery can deliver up to 39.5 hours of calling time, nearly 18 hours of video playback, and over 1,198 hours of standby time on a single charge.

The handset runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and comes with a customisable Alive Matrix Display on the rear panel that can show notifications and alerts. It also features a large 14,689 sq mm cooling system for thermal management during gaming sessions. Additionally, the Pova 8 carries MIL-STD-810H certification and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Pova 8 price, colours and availability

The Tecno Pova 8 is priced at Rs 29,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, while the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs Rs 31,999. The smartphone is available in three colour options: 16 Bit White, Plasma Orange, and Terminal Green. The device will be available for purchase in India via Flipkart.
