Imagine returning home after a long, tiring day to find your bed made, your laundry neatly folded and the toys put back in their place, all without lifting a finger. Or rather, without relying on a human house help. That's the future US-based startup Weave Robotics is promising with the launch of Isaac 1, a home robot designed to take over some of the most repetitive household chores.
The San Francisco-based startup has opened pre-orders for the wheeled robot, which it says can autonomously tidy up homes, fold clothes and help keep homes organised.
Unlike most humanoid robots being developed for warehouses or factories, the company says its new robot Isaac 1 has been built specifically for home use. Weave focuses on two everyday tasks that many people would happily outsource: laundry and general tidying.
Isaac 1 builds on the company's earlier product, Isaac 0, a stationary laundry-folding robot. Weave says Isaac 0 has already been deployed with customers in California, where it has logged more than 2,000 hours of operation and folds over 1,000 pounds of laundry every week.
What can Isaac 1 do?
Isaac 1 is powered by what Weave calls Laundry Flow and Daily Reset. According to the company, Laundry Flow is capable of handling the entire laundry process, from finding dirty clothes and picking them up to carrying loaded hampers, folding clean laundry and putting it away.
Meanwhile, the Daily Reset feature focuses on restoring order around the house by making beds, arranging pillows and blankets, and returning toys, shoes and other clutter to their proper places.
Isaac 1 can work on its own
According to Weave, Isaac 1 is designed to work mostly on its own. It can move around the house autonomously, navigate between rooms and complete assigned chores without constant supervision. If it encounters a situation it cannot handle, the company says remote teleoperation assistance can step in to ensure the task is completed.
Users can also schedule chores or start them on demand through a companion smartphone app, whether they are at home or away.
Isaac 1 specifications
Isaac 1 features a wheeled base instead of legs, along with two robotic arms and a collapsible body that allows it to lower itself when not in use. The robot also comes with soft fabric shells designed for passive safety and is available in five colour options: Sage, Gray, Slate Blue, Terracotta and Vesper, allowing it to blend into different home interiors.
The robot offers an eight-hour battery life and takes around two hours to recharge. It connects over Wi-Fi and has a footprint of 20.5 x 22 inches. Its height can adjust from 3 feet to 5 feet 9 inches, enabling it to reach shelves, beds and laundry baskets. Weave says it designed the robot's actuators, remote actuation system and safety systems in-house at its San Francisco headquarters.
Isaac 1 price
Weave has priced Isaac 1 at $7,999 (roughly Rs 6.9 lakh at current exchange rates). Alternatively, customers can opt for a $449-per-month subscription at the time of delivery. According to the company, Isaac 1 will begin shipping to customers in California in fall 2026, with a wider rollout across the US planned for 2027.
