A youth, allegedly under the influence of drugs, rammed his car into a Hyderabad Police team during an anti-narcotics operation, leaving a constable with a fractured leg and injuring an inspector and another constable.

According to police, H-NEW (Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing) Constable Mahender Yadav received information about a drug transaction in the Abids area on Sunday afternoon.

He alerted his senior officers, following which H-NEW Inspector Srikanth and other personnel set up surveillance near Abids.

During the operation, a blue Maruti Baleno arrived near a footwear shop in the area. Police allegedly saw a man hand over a packet to the occupant of the car and immediately detained the individual who delivered it.

The police team then approached the car's occupant, identified as Saif, a resident of Hussaini Alam. After identifying themselves, they asked him to step out of the vehicle.

Instead of complying, Saif pretended to move the car aside before suddenly reversing it, running over Constable Mahender Yadav's leg as he tried to stop the vehicle.

Inspector Srikanth chased the car and intercepted it near Afzal Gunj. During the chase, Inspector Srikanth and another constable, Vamsidhar, sustained minor injuries.

Constable Yadav suffered a fractured leg and was shifted to Yashoda Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Based on Yadav's complaint, police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Saif.

The accused is currently in the custody of the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing, and further investigation is underway.
