IIIT Bengaluru student bags Rs 1.5 crore package, beats many IIT offers
IIIT Bengaluru announced its highest-ever placement offer of Rs 1.5 crore at its 26th convocation. The ceremony also recognised academic excellence and other achievements, with twin brothers receiving their MTech degrees and emerging as one of the highlights of the event.

A student from the International Institute of Information Technology Bengaluru (IIIT-B) has secured a placement package of Rs 1.5 crore, one of the highest offers made on the campus and higher than the top packages reported by several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) this placement season.
The offer went to a student from the institute's Integrated MTech programme. Two other students also crossed the Rs 1 crore mark, each receiving annual packages of Rs 1.3 crore.
The placement season reflected a broader trend seen across IIIT campuses in recent years, with recruiters offering increasingly competitive salaries. More than 22 students secured annual packages exceeding Rs 60 lakh, while 27 students received offers between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh.
Over 110 graduates were placed with annual salaries above Rs 20 lakh.
316 STUDENTS GRADUATE AT IIIT BENGALURU'S 26TH CONVOCATION
The placement figures were announced during IIIT Bengaluru's 26th Convocation, where 316 students graduated, a number comparable to last year's batch.
Among the graduates, 95 completed the Integrated Master of Technology programme, while 175 received Master of Technology degrees. Another 32 students graduated with a Master of Science (Research), and 14 scholars were awarded PhDs.
Addressing the gathering, IIIT-B Director Debabrata Das highlighted the institute's recent initiatives in digital public infrastructure (DPI).
He said the institute had established India's first Digital Public Infrastructure Division within an academic institution and pointed to the Tele-MANAS platform as one of its key contributions.
According to Das, the National Tele-Mental Health Programme developed at the campus has received more than four million calls, demonstrating the growing role of technology in expanding access to mental healthcare across the country.
Delivering the convocation address, Chief Guest Professor Rajat Moona of IIT Gandhinagar urged graduates to prepare for rapid technological change driven by artificial intelligence.

The convocation also recognised academic and community achievements.
Singuru Manognya received the IIIT-B Gold Medal for MTech, while Subhajeet Lahiri was awarded the Institute Gold Medal for the Integrated MTech programme. Lahiri also shared the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Scholarship Award with Ketaki Srikrishna Tamhanakar.
Siddharth Kothari received the Sitaram Jindal Gold Medal and the Late Sri N. Rama Rao Medal for Best Outgoing Student (Male).
Yukta Arvind Rajapur was named Best Outgoing Student (Female). Institute Medals for contributions to community and professional life were presented to Sankalp Kothari and Daksh Sharma.
Two twin brothers also received degrees which became the centre of attraction during the convocation ceremony. Siddharth and Sankalp Kothari, who both graduated with MTech degrees in Computer Science and Engineering. While Siddharth was recognised for his academic performance and named the best outgoing male student, Sankalp received the institute medal for his contributions to community and professional life.
The convocation also marked another milestone for the institute.
IIIT Bengaluru graduated its 100th PhD scholar in Computer Science and Engineering. Vikas Vazhayil, a neurosurgeon from NIMHANS, was awarded a doctorate for his research on autonomous robotic neurosurgery.
