Every year, Apple releases its latest iPhone series in September. And the upcoming year is speculated to follow the same tradition. The iPhone 17 series is expected to hit the market in September 2025. It is the first series which is rumoured to replace the Plus model with an Air or Slim model. While the iPhone 17 Air is the highlight of the series, the Pro models will also bring unprecedented upgrades. The rumour has it that the entire series will sport 120Hz screen refresh rate, a significant improvement over 60Hz. But what is new with the Pros. Let's find out.

iPhone 17 Pro: What to expect

New Design: iPhone 17 Pro is expected to revamp the design. The rumour has it that the device will get rid of the titanium frame, featured in iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro, and the stainless steel frames found in the iPhone X through iPhone 14 Pro models. It might sport an aluminium frame. Additionally, the back of the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to introduce a new design combining aluminium and glass. The rear panel is also anticipated to get a new look. The iPhone 17 series might follow a Google Pixel 9-like camera bump. Interestingly, the camera bump will grow larger and be crafted from aluminium, contrasting with the glass design seen on current Pro models. Read more about the new design here.

A19 Pro chip: The iPhone 17 Pro models are anticipated to feature Apple's next-generation A19 Pro chip, which is expected to be produced using TSMC's advanced third-generation 3nm process. As usual, users can look forward to incremental performance enhancements and improved power efficiency compared to current iPhones. Additionally, at least one iPhone 17 model is rumoured to include an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip, replacing the Broadcom chips used in previous models.

Improved Memory: The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are both rumoured to feature an upgraded 12GB RAM, initially expected to be exclusive to the Pro Max model. This increase is expected to enhance multitasking and the performance of Apple Intelligence features. In comparison, all four iPhone 16 models come with 8GB RAM, making the upgrade a notable improvement for the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. The additional memory should deliver smoother performance and better support for advanced features.

Camera enhancements: The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to feature a significant upgrade with a 24-megapixel front-facing camera across all models, doubling the resolution of the 12-megapixel camera found on the iPhone 16 series. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro models are rumoured to include an upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera, a major improvement over the 12-megapixel Telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro models. These enhancements aim to deliver superior image quality and better photography capabilities for both front and rear cameras.

Narrowed Dynamic Island: The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a significantly smaller Dynamic Island, thanks to Apple integrating a metalens into the Face ID system. This design change is expected to enhance the device's screen-to-body ratio.

While all the above upgrades are very exciting, you must keep in mind that these are rumoured specifications and Apple is yet to officially unveil these features. Hence, we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt.
