IIM Sambalpur has announced the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms, positioning itself as the first IIM in the country to integrate AI as faculty.

The announcement was made at an event on Monday to celebrate its 10th Foundation Day, marking a decade of innovation and excellence in management education.

During the event, Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, highlighted the significant role that AI will play in reshaping the learning environment.

"With AI, the role of teachers will shift from mere teaching to creating and facilitating learning experiences," he stated. This strategic move aims to enhance the quality of education and engage students in a more dynamic way.

Since its establishment, IIM Sambalpur has focused on action-oriented research and experiential learning. The institute has seen remarkable growth, expanding from 49 MBA students in 2015 to a thriving community of 320, with an impressive 75% female student body.

The event also featured keynotes from industry leaders, including Uday A Kaole, CMD of MCL, who praised the institute’s vibrancy and innovative spirit.

CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS AND FUTURE PLANS

Professor Jaiswal also announced plans for a Women's Empowerment Summit in February, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

IIM Sambalpur is set to establish three Centers of Excellence and diversify its MBA program in line with the National Education Policy’s focus on international accreditations.

The event coincided with the launch of the Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp, scheduled from September 23 to 27, 2024. This initiative, endorsed by the Prime Minister, aims to foster entrepreneurial skills among student innovators across the country.

The day was enriched by insights from keynote speakers like Nishita Baliarsingh, Co-founder and CEO of Nexus Power, who emphasised the importance of consistent effort and honesty.

Anindya Ghosh, Associate Partner at IBM, urged students to focus on their passions and plan financially from an early stage.

Dr Anurag Batra, the Guest of Honour, reminded attendees of the value of optimism and sustainability.
