  • Google I/O keynote starts tonight at 10:30 PM IST globally
  • Gemini AI, Android 17 and smart glasses expected at event
  • Livestream will be available on Google website and YouTube channel

Google is all set to host its annual developer conference, Google I/O, today (May 19) at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The event is one of Google’s biggest showcases of the year, where the company unveils new software features, artificial intelligence updates and future technologies that could shape Android devices, Search and other Google services in the coming months.

The keynote event will be hosted by Sundar Pichai and is expected to heavily focus on AI, Gemini models and the future of Android. While Google I/O is traditionally software-focused, this year’s event may also offer a glimpse into new hardware concepts, including smart glasses powered by AI.

How to watch Google I/O livestream

Google’s keynote presentation will begin at 10 AM Pacific Time, which translates to 10:30 PM IST in India. Interested viewers can watch the livestream through Google’s official I/O website or on YouTube via the Google for Developers channel.

The keynote is expected to run for several hours and will include major product announcements, software demonstrations and discussions around Google’s AI roadmap.

Gemini AI likely to remain the biggest focus

Artificial intelligence is expected to dominate the event once again. Google is likely to announce upgrades to its Gemini AI models, which are now becoming deeply integrated across Android devices and Google services.

Reports suggest Google may unveil a new video-generation AI model called Omni. The company is also expected to discuss improvements to Search powered by AI, along with updates to its experimental Google Labs projects. One of the expected highlights is Flow, Google’s AI-based music creation tool, which could receive new creative features during the event.

Google has already started referring to some of its advanced AI capabilities as “Gemini Intelligence” for premium Android devices, signaling how central AI has become to the company’s strategy.

Android 17 could get major stage time

Another major highlight expected at the conference is Android 17. Although the operating system is still in beta testing, Google may use the event to showcase upcoming features before its wider rollout later this year.

The company recently revealed several Android 17 additions ahead of I/O, including improved voice-to-text recognition, smarter autofill features and enhanced digital well-being settings. Google is also redesigning parts of Android Auto and introducing more 3D-style emojis.

Because many Android features were announced early, industry watchers believe Google saved some larger software reveals specifically for the I/O keynote.

Smart glasses and Googlebook may also appear

Google has already confirmed that the event will include a sneak peek at its smart glasses project, suggesting the company is once again exploring wearable AI-powered devices.

Another product likely to be discussed is Googlebook, a newly announced AI-first laptop platform powered by Android technologies. Unlike Chromebooks, Googlebook is expected to focus more heavily on AI-driven experiences and productivity features.

While details remain limited, Google may use I/O to explain how these devices fit into its broader AI ecosystem.
