Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday praised India's talent pool and educational standards, describing relations between the two countries as being built on trust and brotherhood.

Speaking at the plenary session of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), moderated by India Today's Geeta Mohan, Putin said Russia and India share "very good, trust-based, brotherly relations in all senses of the word".

Highlighting India's human capital, the Russian president said the country has earned global recognition for the quality of its workforce, particularly in the technology sector.

"We know how talented the Indian people are, how well-educated and competent they are. They have achieved worldwide renown, especially in coding," Putin said.

His remarks come amid deepening cooperation between New Delhi and Moscow across sectors including trade, energy, defence and technology.
