Royal Enfield Classic 650 long term review | Authenticity defines the experience
After almost 100km with the Royal Enfield Classic 650, its relaxed engine, smooth power delivery and old-school character stand out, while its similarity to the Bullet 650 remains a minor gripe.

A few weeks into life with the Royal Enfield Classic 650, its biggest strength has little to do with outright performance. Instead, it is the effortless nature of the entire riding experience. While the 648cc parallel-twin engine is familiar from other Royal Enfield models, its integration into the Classic gives it a distinctly different character. The motor feels relaxed at almost every speed. There is ample torque available low down, allowing you to short-shift and cruise without constantly working through the gearbox. It never feels hurried, which suits the motorcycle’s laid-back personality perfectly. Refinement continues to be a highlight, too. There is enough mechanical feel to remind you that you are riding a big-capacity motorcycle, but vibrations remain well controlled throughout the rev range. In fact, even the note from the peashooter exhaust has a satisfying rumble to it. However, I do have a pedantic gripe of sorts. Having ridden the Bullet 650, there seems to be a lack of distinction between the two, at least for my taste. Sure, the design, handlebar and seating ergos are different, but I feel more should’ve been done on that front. Another interesting aspect has been the attention it generates. Fuel stops often turn into conversations, with curious onlookers drawn to its timeless design and commanding road presence. Unlike motorcycles that demand attention through aggressive styling, the Classic earns it through authenticity. That authenticity is what continues to define our experience.
