Audi has officially revealed the interior of the upcoming Audi Q9, its new flagship three-row luxury SUV that will sit above the Audi Q7 in the brand’s global line-up. Expected to make its full world premiere on July 29, the Q9 is aimed squarely at rivals such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, with a strong focus on rear-seat comfort, technology, and luxury.

Audi says the Q9 has been conceived as more than just a luxury SUV, describing it as a "mobile living space" for families and long-distance travel. The cabin places a heavy emphasis on space and comfort, offering both six-seat and seven-seat configurations.

The six-seat version features second-row captain’s chairs with electric adjustment and active ventilation, while the seven-seat layout allows child seats to be fitted across all three seats in the middle row. Audi has also equipped the Q9 with electrically folding third-row seats for added convenience.

Up front, the Q9 gets Audi’s latest triple-screen dashboard layout, accompanied by extensive ambient lighting, premium upholstery options, and a redesigned centre console with dual wireless smartphone chargers supporting the latest Qi2.2 standard.

Electrically operated doors make debut

One of the standout features is the introduction of electrically powered doors, a first for an Audi production model. The doors can be operated through the key, the myAudi app, the infotainment system, or even via the brake pedal and seatbelt functions.

Audi says the system also uses surround sensors with obstacle detection to prevent the doors from opening into nearby objects or road users, adding an extra layer of convenience and safety in tight parking situations.

Panoramic roof with adjustable transparency

The Q9 also introduces a large panoramic glass roof measuring around 1.5 square metres. Instead of a conventional sunblind, the laminated glass roof features switchable transparency, allowing occupants to individually adjust nine different sections from transparent to opaque.

The glass reflects infrared light and blocks over 99.5 percent of UV radiation, while higher trims add integrated LED lighting with 30 selectable colours across the roof lining.

Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system

Audi has equipped the flagship SUV with an updated Bang & Olufsen 4D audio system featuring headrest speakers and seat-mounted actuators that allow occupants to physically feel the music. The ambient interaction light system also syncs with the music playback, changing colours according to the rhythm and album artwork.

Other highlights include ventilation and massage functions for the front sports seats, new premium trim materials including fine wood and carbon fibre finishes, and a luggage compartment fitted with adjustable cargo rails and sliding hooks.

Audi will reveal the complete exterior design, powertrain options, and technical specifications of the Q9 at its global debut on July 29, 2026.
