BMW has launched the BMW M440i Convertible in India at Rs 1.09 crore, introducing a premium open-top performance model to rival the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet in the segment.
by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayBMW M440i Convertible has been introduced in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.09 crore, an open-top performance offering in the German brand’s portfolio. The luxury convertible competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, which is priced at Rs 1.16 crore.
The M440i Convertible carries forward the styling cues of the 4 Series range but distinguishes itself with a fabric soft-top roof. Unlike its predecessor’s retractable hard-top, the new model uses a lighter soft roof that can be operated in 18 seconds.
The front fascia is marked by sleek LED headlamps and BMW’s prominent vertically stretched kidney grille, while the bumper integrates functional air intakes to aid cooling.
In profile, the convertible sits on 19-inch alloy wheels with a staggered setup, and retains a two-door layout with access to the rear seats via folding front seats. At the rear, it features slim LED tail-lamps and dual exhaust outlets, underlining its sporty intent.
Inside, the cabin adopts a clean, driver-focused layout with a 2+2 seating configuration. The dashboard is dominated by a curved dual-display setup comprising a 14.9-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The car also comes equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel, powered front seats with memory function, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless charging, head-up display, TPMS and automatic climate control.
Powering the M440i Convertible is BMW’s well-known 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, also seen in the BMW M340i. The motor produces 374hp and 500Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive system. Performance remains strong, with a claimed 0-100kph sprint time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.
With this launch, BMW is strengthening its niche luxury portfolio in India, targeting buyers seeking a blend of performance and open-air driving experience.
