Apple recently raised the prices of several MacBook and iPad models in India, with a few devices becoming up to Rs 1 lakh more expensive. If you skipped buying a MacBook before the hike, there is now a limited-time opportunity to save on Apple's latest MacBook Air M5. Vijay Sales is currently offering discounts of up to Rs 20,000 on the 13-inch MacBook Air M5, making it one of the best deals available on Apple's newest laptop. The retailer has not revealed how long the offer will remain live, so buyers who have been waiting for a price drop may want to act sooner rather than later.
The deal applies to the 13-inch MacBook Air M5 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. The laptop, which launched at Rs 1,49,900, is currently listed for Rs 1,39,990 on Vijay Sales, giving buyers an instant discount of Rs 9,910. Customers using eligible ICICI Bank and Axis Bank credit cards can save an additional Rs 10,000, bringing the effective price down to Rs 1,29,990. That takes the total savings to nearly Rs 20,000. As of now, India Today Tech has found that no other major online platform is offering a discount of this size on the same configuration.
Should you buy it?
For anyone looking for a premium laptop that can comfortably handle work, studies, content creation and entertainment for years, the MacBook Air M5 remains a strong option.
The biggest upgrade is Apple's new M5 chip, which features a 10-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, hardware-accelerated ray tracing and 153GBps memory bandwidth. Combined with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage as standard, the laptop is well-equipped for multitasking as well as demanding creative workloads.
According to Apple, the M5 delivers significant improvements in AI-powered and graphics-heavy tasks. The company claims AI video enhancement in Topaz Video is up to 6.9 times faster than the MacBook Air with M1 and up to 1.9 times faster than the M4 version. Apple also says 3D rendering in Blender is up to 6.5 times faster than M1 and image processing in Affinity is up to 2.7 times faster than M1.
While these are Apple's own benchmarks and real-world gains will vary depending on the workload, the M5 should offer more than enough performance for everyday users. For activities such as web browsing, office work, video streaming, coding, photo editing and even occasional video editing, the MacBook Air M5 is unlikely to feel slow for many years.
The hardware isn't the only reason to consider it. The MacBook Air continues to stand out for its slim and lightweight metal body, fanless design that operates silently, and excellent build quality. Although the design has remained largely unchanged since 2022, it still feels modern and premium.
The 13-inch Liquid Retina display has a 2,560x1,664 resolution, IPS technology and up to 500 nits of brightness, delivering sharp visuals and vibrant colours. Other highlights include a backlit keyboard, a 12MP Center Stage webcam for better video calls and battery life that can comfortably last around 10 hours with typical daily use.
Of course, it isn't perfect. Users who need sustained heavy performance for professional 4K or 8K video editing, advanced 3D rendering or intensive software development may still be better served by the MacBook Pro lineup, thanks to its active cooling system. The MacBook Air also offers fewer ports than the Pro models, meaning some users may still need adapters.
That said, if you've been planning to buy the latest MacBook Air, this discount makes the purchase far more attractive, especially after Apple's recent price revisions. With the effective price dropping to Rs 1,29,990 through eligible bank offers, it is currently one of the strongest MacBook deals available online.
