Hanuman Ansh box office Day 34: Film holds strong, Rs 200 crore milestone in sight

Hanuman Ansh collected an estimated Rs 10.25 crore nett on Day 34, lifting its India gross to Rs 180.95 crore. The fifth-week hold keeps the film on course for the Rs 200-crore milestone.

Hanuman Ansh continues its remarkable theatrical run, with the devotional drama now inching closer to the Rs 200-crore mark in India. On Day 34, the film collected an estimated Rs 10.25 crore nett (gross minus taxes), taking its total India nett collection to Rs 153.13 crore. Its India gross collection currently stands at Rs 180.95 crore, putting the Rs 200-crore gross milestone within striking distance.

The film's Day 34 numbers are particularly notable given that it is already in its fifth week. According to trade website Sacnilk, Hanuman Ansh recorded a 4.7 per cent drop from Day 33, when it earned Rs 10.75 crore nett. It had also collected Rs 10 crore on Day 32, showing that its weekday hold remains unusually strong for a film this deep into its theatrical run.

The film's fifth week has been especially impressive. It opened the week with Rs 10 crore on Day 29, followed by Rs 16.50 crore on Saturday and a massive Rs 22.75 crore on Sunday. Even after the weekend, it remained in double digits, earning Rs 10 crore on Monday, Rs 10.75 crore on Tuesday and Rs 10.25 crore on Wednesday. The fifth-week total has already reached Rs 80.25 crore nett through Day 34.

That momentum has helped Hanuman Ansh recover from a slow start. The film earned just Rs 1.08 crore in its opening week and Rs 40 lakh in its second week. Its fortunes changed dramatically in the third week, when it collected Rs 10.40 crore, before exploding to Rs 61 crore in the fourth week. The fifth-week numbers have now surpassed the entire fourth-week haul in just six days.

Day 34 also saw the film record an overall occupancy of around 34 per cent, with evening and night shows performing considerably better than the morning shows. Its night occupancy stood at 48.62 per cent, while the evening occupancy was 40.38 per cent.

Several regions continued to report strong occupancy. Bhopal recorded 60.5 per cent overall occupancy, followed by Lucknow at 55.8 per cent and Jaipur at 52.5 per cent. The National Capital Region (NCR) also remained strong at 45.3 per cent, while Bengaluru recorded 34.3 per cent.

The film's turnaround has been one of the biggest box-office stories of the year. Hanuman Ansh, directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and based on the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, initially struggled to attract audiences but gained momentum through word of mouth. It has since transformed into a surprise blockbuster, with reports highlighting its extraordinary return on investment given its modest production budget.

With Rs 180.95 crore in India gross after 34 days, Hanuman Ansh needs roughly Rs 19 crore more to cross the Rs 200-crore mark. Given that the film is still adding around Rs 10 crore on weekdays in its fifth week, the milestone is firmly within sight.

The bigger question now is how far the film can stretch its theatrical run. Its ability to remain in double digits during the weekdays, even after more than a month in theatres, suggests that Hanuman Ansh could continue adding significantly to its final tally before its run winds down.

Hanuman Ansh will release internationally on September 11.
