A video showing a toddler trapped inside a locked car has prompted concern and criticism over child safety.
“Meri jaisi galti kabhi na karein (Never make the same mistake as me),” read the title of the short clip posted by an X account, where two women were heard anxiously instructing the child to unlock the car from inside, in what appeared to be a basement parking area.
“Kholo beta (Open, dear). Beta, second number button dabaao (Press the second button),” they repeatedly said, urging him to press the correct button.
The toddler, visibly confused, was seen knocking on the window while holding the car keys.
Despite continuous guidance - “Press the second button...open, open...don’t throw the key” - the child struggled to follow instructions.
Explaining her mistake, the woman said in the video that they had just arrived, and she had stepped out and moved to the other side to take the child out, during which time he locked the car from inside.
The X account, which posted the video, claimed that the woman had left the child sitting inside the car and even handed him the keys. The child accidentally pressed the lock button, causing the car to lock from inside.
“When the woman returned, she asked the child to unlock the car, but the child was too young and didn’t know which button to press. He couldn’t unlock it, and the child got trapped inside the car. This is a lesson: never leave small children alone inside a car,” the caption said, adding a note of caution for viewers.

Social media users expressed concern for the child’s safety while most others criticised the woman’s actions in the comments section of the post. “No sane mother will do this,” one user wrote, while another commented, “Some women don’t deserve to be mothers.” A few also questioned the decision to film the incident instead of focusing entirely on resolving the situation.
Incidents like these highlight the risks associated with leaving young children unattended in vehicles, even for short durations. Experts have repeatedly warned that such situations can escalate quickly, when children accidentally lock themselves inside.
