ChatGPT is now reading palms just like your local Pandit Ji does, with proof and analysis

You must have already seen it: ChatGPT is going viral again because its image tool is not only reading like a Pandit Ji but it can also create a nice infographic explaining the hand that you share with it.

In Short

  • ChatGPT Images 2.0 can now analyse your palm
  • It provides detailed, infographic-style readings of palm lines
  • However, the, readings are often generic and flattering

After putting unease in the hearts of millions of corporate workers who are seeing their jobs under threat, ChatGPT is now coming for your local Pandit Ji. It is doing pam reading. Again. And going viral. Again. You must have already seen the trend as in the last couple of days people have discovered that the new image tool from ChatGPT not only reads palms but also creates a detailed infographic, explaining the lines, mounts and finger shapes. It’s quite fun, even though its accuracy — if at all there can be accuracy in something like palm reading — is not clear.

OpenAI has recently rolled out ChatGPT Images 2.0 image AI model, pitching it as a much sharper upgrade, with better text rendering, stronger multilingual capabilities, and the ability to turn prompts into detailed visual explainers. While users are going all in testing the model with new ideas, some have figured out to use it for palm reading. And it seemingly works.

The new ChatGPT Images 2.0 model can “see” your palm, draw over it, label your lines, and tell you what your love life might look like, all without a palmist in sight. All you need to do is upload a photo of your hand and ask ChatGPT to read your future like a seasoned astrologer.

We asked ChatGPT to read our palm

If it is viral, it must be fun. So, we decided to have some too. We tried the ChatGPT viral trend with a bunch of prompts, and the results were surprisingly polished. The model doesn’t just analyse, it presents neatly. Clean layouts, labelled lines, and even aesthetic summaries that look like some Hasthrekha Shastri has penned down after charging a serious fee.

And this machine “guru” is also flexible. You can tweak the tone, asking it to be “be savage”, “be a spiritual guru”, “be scientific”, and ask follow-ups. The more specific your prompt, the more tailored —and entertaining — the output becomes.

Now, this isn’t the first time that ChatGPT has dabbled in astrology or palm reading. I’ve tried it earlier to compare how models like Google Gemini and others respond when asked for these traditional psychic practices, horoscopes, kundali, astrology, tarot, palm reading, and even face reading.

However, with ChatGPT Images 2.0, what really stands out is how well the model turns abstract ideas into visual guides. That, more than anything, is probably why this trend is catching on so quickly.

For instance, in one test, I gave the same prompt to ChatGPT and Gemini, and the results were quite similar in intent, but not in execution. I had to tweak things quite a bit with Gemini to get the illustration as I wanted, while ChatGPT was cleaner and straightforward.

Proceed with caution

Palm reading through AI does sound fun, and for anyone who enjoys these readings, this might be fascinating. But before you declare AI the new astrologer of the digital age, hold on, you probably shouldn’t fall for it. Treat it like a Sunday horoscope. Often it is fun, but generic so that you can see whatever you want to SEE in it, and just believable enough to make you pause for a moment.

In the case of ChatGPT and palm reading, I saw the readings often lean towards a universally flattering tone. Words like ambition and emotional depth are used in a way that makes the readings agreeable to almost everyone. After all, who doesn’t want to be called ambitious or emotionally mature? Even people who are not ambitious or emotionally mature believe that they are. In other words, it gives agreeable insights that most people won’t argue with. Like a true sycophantic, it tells you what sounds right, and lets you fill in the blanks with your own beliefs.

So, is ChatGPT coming for the jobs of astrologers and palm readers? We’ll see. For now, though, this new generation image generator is clearly catching attention. More than anything, it gamifies the whole experience, making it more visual, more shareable, and a lot more accessible.
