The upcoming Honda facelift has been spotted once again ahead of its official launch on May 22, revealing fresh details about its revised styling, updated cabin and feature additions. The latest spy shots not only showcase the sedan’s new lighting signatures and rear-end design for the first time.

While the overall silhouette of the fifth-generation City remains unchanged, Honda has introduced a series of visual and equipment upgrades aimed at keeping the sedan competitive against rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

The biggest updates on the facelifted City are concentrated at the front. The sedan gets redesigned LED headlamps featuring integrated daytime running lamps connected by a slim illuminated light bar running across the grille. The revised grille itself adopts a cleaner layered mesh pattern and stretches more seamlessly between the headlamps, visually making the sedan appear wider.

Spy images also reveal a redesigned front bumper with sharper angular inserts and a sportier lower section. Unlike the current model, the spotted test car did not feature visible fog lamps, suggesting Honda may have integrated additional lighting functions within the headlamp cluster itself. A front camera positioned centrally on the bumper also hints at the addition of a 360-degree camera system.

Another notable change is the repositioned Honda logo, which now appears to sit slightly above the grille line on the bonnet edge, giving the sedan a more premium and contemporary appearance inspired by newer global Honda models such as the Honda Accord and Honda Prelude.

In profile, the City retains its familiar elegant proportions, although the facelift introduces a fresh dual-tone alloy wheel design finished in gloss black, adding a sportier touch. The wheel size is expected to remain 16 inches.

At the rear, the LED tail-lamp design appears largely unchanged, though the units may receive a darker smoked treatment. The bumper has been revised with new triangular and angular inserts replacing the current C-shaped detailing. A more integrated boot-lid spoiler is also visible, further enhancing the sedan’s sporty character.

Inside, the updates are evolutionary rather than radical, but the facelift does appear to receive several important improvements. The most noticeable change is a new larger freestanding infotainment display replacing the current 8-inch unit. The new screen appears slimmer and more premium, while the dashboard layout receives subtle revisions around it.

The black-and-beige interior theme continues, along with beige upholstery and soft-touch trim elements. Spy shots also reveal blue ambient lighting integrated into the dashboard and door panels, enhancing the cabin’s premium feel.

Honda is expected to equip the updated City with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, alongside an upgraded premium audio system and updated connected car technology features.

The facelift is also likely to introduce several convenience features that have become increasingly important in the segment. Expected features include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat and a 360-degree camera system, the latter confirmed by a dedicated camera button spotted near the steering wheel.

Honda City facelift: Safety features

Safety equipment is expected to remain one of the City’s strongest highlights. The facelift will likely continue offering the Honda SENSING advanced driver assistance system suite, which includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation and auto high beam assist.

Other standard safety features are expected to include six airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Honda City facelift: Powertrain options

Mechanically, the facelifted City is expected to remain unchanged. Honda is likely to retain the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices will continue to include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic.

The strong-hybrid City e:HEV will also continue as part of the lineup. Its hybrid setup develops a combined 126hp and comes paired with an e-CVT transmission while delivering significantly higher fuel efficiency, with figures expected to remain around 27km/l.

Honda City facelift: Expected price and launch

The updated Honda City is expected to command a slight premium over the outgoing model, which is currently priced between Rs 12.10 lakh and Rs 16.17 lakh (ex-showroom) for the standard petrol range, while the hybrid variant is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda Cars India is scheduled to officially unveil the facelifted City on May 22, alongside the new Honda ZR-V SUV for the Indian market.
