While in India iQOO is preparing to launch its next flagship, the iQOO 16, in China, the company is gearing up to expand its Neo series lineup. And it seems the Vivo sub-brand is putting gaming performance and battery life at the centre of the experience. The iQOO Neo 12 will arrive later this month with Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, a high-refresh-rate display and a massive battery. The company has also shown off the phone’s design and confirmed its launch date.

iQOO Neo 12: What’s confirmed so far

The iQOO Neo 12 will launch in China on October 28. Pre-orders have already opened in the country, and the phone is expected to go on sale following its announcement.

The smartphone will be available in three colour options: Fierce Edge, Shadow Black and Frost Blade Blue. The Fierce Edge variant features a textured rear panel that creates a flowing light effect as the viewing angle changes. iQOO has also collaborated with the China Academy of Art on a colour option.

The phone features a square rear camera module, a polished metal frame and an active cooling fan positioned in the bottom-right corner of the camera module. The company has confirmed that the Neo 12 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It will also feature iQOO’s dedicated Q3 gaming chip and an Ice Dome cooling system.

A 9,000mAh battery is another confirmed highlight. That is a substantial capacity for a smartphone, particularly one designed for gaming, where long sessions can quickly drain the battery.

iQOO Neo 12: What to expect

Beyond the confirmed details, iQOO has revealed several features that give an idea of what the Neo 12 could offer. The phone is expected to feature a 2K AMOLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate. If you play games that support high frame rates, the panel could deliver smoother visuals than the 120Hz screens found on many smartphones.

The display is also said to offer up to 2,200 nits of full-screen peak brightness, along with XDR dynamic range enhancement and a 1-nit sleep screen. For touch response, the phone is expected to support instant touch sampling rates of up to 5,000Hz and multi-touch sampling rates of up to 500Hz.

The battery reportedly uses fifth-generation silicon-anode technology and has an energy density of 916Wh/L. It is also expected to support 100W wired charging.

Gaming features could be another major focus. iQOO claims the phone will support 2K gaming at up to 185 frames per second in compatible titles, with super-resolution and frame interpolation running together. Support for more than 50 native 185fps games, full-scene ray tracing and Q-Flex controls is also expected.

While iQOO has revealed several key details, more information about the phone, including its pricing, should become clearer around the October 28 launch.
