Skoda Slavia facelift enters production ahead of festive season

Skoda has commenced production of the updated Slavia in India, ahead of the festive season, with refreshed styling, added features and a new automatic gearbox for the 1.0 turbo-petrol engine.

Skoda Auto has commenced production of the updated Slavia at its Chakan facility in Pune, with deliveries of the refreshed sedan set to begin around the festive season. The updated Slavia brings revisions to its design, technology, comfort and powertrain options.

The Slavia has sold nearly 80,000 units in India since its launch and currently accounts for around 30% of its segment, according to Skoda. The company has timed production of the updated model to coincide with the period when passenger vehicle purchases typically see increased demand.

Skoda Slavia facelift: What's new?

The updated Slavia retains its existing sedan silhouette but receives a number of exterior revisions. These include a redesigned grille with vertical chrome slats, sharper LED headlamps and a revised front bumper with a wider lower opening and new detailing.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, although the sedan gets new multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the Slavia features revised tail-lamps, a black strip across the boot lid with Skoda lettering and an updated bumper with black and chrome elements.

Inside, the Slavia gets a dual-tone cabin with lighter upholstery and trim on the lower sections of the dashboard and doors. It continues with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and, on higher variants, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

The equipment list has also been expanded. Highlights include electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a six-speaker audio system with a subwoofer and a segment-first rear-seat massage function. A 360-degree Area View camera is also available, while the infotainment system gets an AI Companion powered by Google Cloud.

Skoda Slavia facelift: Powertrain and gearbox

The updated Slavia continues with the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines. The 1.0 TSI produces 115bhp and 178Nm and is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic. The new automatic replaces the earlier 6-speed torque-converter unit.

The larger 1.5-litre TSI develops 147bhp and 250Nm and continues to be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre version also gets rear disc brakes.

The Slavia continues to carry a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, with koda positioning the updated sedan as a combination of safety, driving dynamics and everyday practicality.

Skoda's India manufacturing push

The new Slavia is being manufactured at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India's Chakan facility in Pune. The company operates two manufacturing plants in India with a combined annual production capacity of 315,000 vehicles.

SAVWIPL crossed the milestone of producing two million vehicles locally in 2025. It has also exported more than 725,000 vehicles to over 40 countries under its 'Made in India for India and the World' strategy.
