A student from Ranchi has scripted a remarkable turnaround in the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2026, securing a perfect score of 500 out of 500 after opting for re-evaluation and emerging among the country's highest scorers in the commerce stream.

Avani Kejriwal, a commerce student of Delhi Public School (DPS) SAIL Township, Dhurwa, initially secured 95.2 per cent when the CBSE Class 12 results were declared on May 13.

Despite her family's satisfaction with the result, Avani believed her performance deserved a closer review and applied for re-evaluation of her answer sheets.

The decision proved transformative. Following the re-evaluation process, her aggregate score rose to a flawless 500 out of 500, giving her full marks in all five core commerce subjects; English Core, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and Applied Mathematics.

She also scored 99 marks in her additional subject, Graphics.

CONFIDENCE IN PERFORMANCE LED TO RE-EVALUATION

Reflecting on her achievement, Avani said she had complete faith in her hard work and performance, which motivated her to seek a re-evaluation.

"When the results were declared, I was not fully satisfied with my score. I believed my answers deserved another review, and I had confidence in the effort I had put in throughout the year," she said.

She credited her success to the support of her parents, teachers and mentor, Sachit Sir.

TARGET-BASED STUDY STRATEGY

Avani attributed her academic success to a disciplined, target-oriented approach rather than focusing on the number of hours spent studying.

Avni said her study routine was focused on meeting daily targets rather than counting study hours, ensuring that she completed two or three planned topics each day regardless of the time required.

She also advised students to use social media responsibly and in moderation, ensuring it does not interfere with academic priorities.

ASPIRES TO BUILD A CAREER IN BUSINESS

Avani is the daughter of businessman Mitesh Kejriwal and homemaker Poonam Kejriwal. She plans to pursue higher studies in business management and has already appeared for the CUET-UG 2026 examination.

With aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur, she hopes to establish her own business in the future.

SCHOOL HAILS ACHIEVEMENT

DPS Ranchi Principal Dr Jaya Chauhan congratulated the student on her exceptional achievement, describing it as a reflection of determination, focus and effective guidance.

"Her success not only brings laurels to DPS Ranchi but also inspires countless students to strive for excellence," DPS Ranchi Principal, was quoted as saying by PTI.

Avani's extraordinary leap from 95.2 per cent to a perfect score after re-evaluation has sparked discussions on the impact of the review process and stands as a powerful example of perseverance, self-belief and confidence in one's abilities. Her achievement has become a source of pride for her family, school and the state of Jharkhand, inspiring thousands of students across the region.
