Rajasthan cops arrest aide of key Lawrence gang member, recover 7 live cartridges

The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Saturday arrested an associate of a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and recovered seven live cartridges from his possession.
According to the Rajasthan ATS, Anil Kumar Jat alias Monty was in contact with gangster Sunil Kumar Meena alias SK, a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Information accessed by India Today TV suggested that Jat was allegedly involved in arms trafficking and other gang-related activities. A resident of Jaipur Rural, he was reportedly in regular contact with Meena, who is believed to have links with gangsters operating from Pakistan and is currently absconding.
The operation was carried out under the direction of Additional DGP Dinesh MN and the supervision of Inspector General of Police Rajesh Singh. Acting on intelligence inputs, a team led by Superintendent of Police Gyanchand Yadav took Jat into custody for questioning.
During interrogation, Jat allegedly disclosed that cartridges had been hidden inside his house. Acting on the information, the ATS, along with Jaipur Rural Police, searched his residence and recovered seven live cartridges concealed beneath a staircase, Rajasthan Police said in a statement.
A case has been registered against Jat under relevant sections of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway. Investigators are probing his alleged links with Meena, suspected involvement in arms trafficking and gang-related activities, and the source of the recovered ammunition.
