Apple’s latest MacBook Air M5 has received a price cut at Vijay Sales, making the laptop available for Rs 1,39,490. The discount comes a few months after Apple revised the prices of several MacBook and iPad models in India, with some devices becoming significantly more expensive.

The listed price is Rs 10,000 lower than the revised retail price of Rs 1,49,900. There are also additional bank offers available on select credit cards, which can bring the effective cost down further. The offer is available on the 13-inch MacBook Air M5 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. Vijay Sales is currently listing the configuration at Rs 1,39,490, compared with its revised retail price of Rs 1,49,900.

In addition to the flat Rs 10,000 reduction, customers using eligible Axis Bank, SBI or ICICI Bank credit cards can get another Rs 10,000 discount, according to the offer details. This takes the effective price to around Rs 1.29 lakh, depending on how the bank offer is applied.

Unlike bank deals that may require customers to meet spending conditions, the Rs 10,000 reduction in the listed price is already visible in the selling price.

What you get for the money

The MacBook Air M5 arrived in March this year as Apple's latest version of its mainstream laptop. The 13-inch model on offer is aimed at buyers who want a relatively compact machine rather than the larger 15-inch Air.

Apple has kept the overall Air design largely unchanged for this generation. The laptop remains thin and lightweight, while the M5 chip brings the main hardware update over the previous model.

For everyday use, the machine is designed around tasks such as browsing, office work, video calls, streaming and other regular computing needs. It has a Liquid Retina display, a 12-megapixel camera and Apple's MagSafe charging system. There are also two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack.

Battery life is another part of the Air's appeal. Apple rates the laptop for up to 15 hours of wireless web use and as much as 18 hours of video playback. The 13-inch model weighs about 2.7 pounds, making it considerably easier to carry than the 15-inch version.

The M5 Air is not aimed at the same users as Apple's more powerful MacBook Pro models. People whose regular workload involves demanding professional video editing, 3D work or other sustained intensive applications may have different hardware requirements.

For everyone else, the more important question is the price. The M5 generation is still relatively new, having launched only in March 2026, so buyers are not picking up an older model simply because it is discounted.

At Rs 1,39,490, the 16GB/512GB MacBook Air M5 is already Rs 10,000 below its revised retail price. The additional bank discount can make the deal cheaper still.
