Oppo is gearing up to launch the Oppo Reno 16 series in China on May 25. The lineup is expected to include two smartphones — the Oppo Reno 16 and Oppo Reno 16 Pro. The series will debut alongside the Oppo Pad 6, Oppo Enco Air 5s, and Oppo Bubble, a selfie display accessory. Ahead of the Reno 16 series rollout, the brand has started teasing the upcoming smartphones to build anticipation among consumers. The series is already available for pre-order in China and will be offered in multiple colour options and storage configurations.
Oppo 16 series expected specs and features
Leaks suggest the standard Reno 16 could arrive with a 6.32-inch flat OLED display offering 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. While the Reno 16 Pro is expected to feature a larger 6.78-inch flat OLED panel with similar display specifications.
Under the hood, the Reno 16 is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8550 chipset, while the Reno 16 Pro could feature the newer and more powerful Dimensity 9500s processor.
Rumours hint that the company may introduce a more advanced Pro Mini variant later, similar to what it did with the previous generation.
Battery capacity is also expected to see an upgrade this year. The Reno 16 may pack a 6,700mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging, while the Pro variant could house an even larger 7,000mAh battery along with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging support. For comparison, both the Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro came with 6,500mAh batteries.
On the camera front, both smartphones are tipped to feature the same triple rear camera setup, including a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 primary sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with OIS. A 50-megapixel front-facing camera is also expected on both models.
In terms of design, OPPO may introduce metal frames, and for protection, an IP69 rating, dust and water resistance could be shipped across the lineup. The Reno 16 series is also rumoured to debut a new “Snap Key” feature, which is expected to work similarly to the Plus Key seen on recent OnePlus devices, allowing users to trigger shortcuts and quick actions.
The Oppo Reno 16 is expected to come in three colours — Galaxy Purple, Heartbeat, and Moonlight Is Dark — with five storage configurations to choose from: 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/256GB, and 16GB/512GB. Topping the lineup is a 16GB/1TB variant for those who never want to hear the words "storage full" again.
