Vivo has officially launched the X Fold 6 in China, its latest flagship foldable smartphone. The Chinese brand, it seems, developed the device aiming to enter the foldable market in the most compelling way this year. The device brings a refined design, a serious camera upgrade, and one of the largest batteries ever seen in a foldable phone, all in a package that takes clear aim at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Oppo Find N6.

Vivo X Fold 6 specs and features

Unfolding the X Fold 6 reveals an 8.02-inch folding OLED display with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, backed by Samsung's M14 luminescent material. The cover screen comes with improved nanocrystal glass protection, and the hinge is rated for an impressive 600,000 folds, Vivo claims. The phone carries an IP58/59 rating for dust and water resistance, not quite at the level of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold's IP68, but still a step above the Galaxy Z Fold 7's IP48.

Under the hood, the X Fold 6 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset, a customised version of the processor that Vivo says is optimised specifically for large foldable devices, with improvements to multitasking and multi-window rendering.

Cameras are arguably where the X Fold 6 makes its biggest statement. The phone adopts a 200-megapixel main camera with a Samsung Isocell HPB sensor. Alongside it sits a 50-megapixel ultrawide and another 50-megapixel 3x telephoto camera. For the first time on a Vivo foldable, the X Fold 6 also supports an external camera lens – specifically the second-generation 200mm telephoto extender, which attaches to the 3x camera and enables native 8.3x shots and lossless 17x captures. Video recording goes up to 4K at 60fps with Dolby Vision support, and the phone also includes multiple film styles and an AI camera coach.

The X Fold 6 packs a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery – one of the largest ever fitted into a foldable smartphone. Wireless charging is also supported, though Vivo has not confirmed the charging speed at this stage.

On the software side, Vivo has upgraded its Origin Workbench multitasking feature, which debuted on the X Fold 5 and allowed users to run five apps simultaneously in separate windows. The X Fold 6 version adds more split-view layout options and the ability to save layouts for one-tap opening. The phone also gains a file manager with AI features, including intelligent file renaming and smart file suggestions for meetings.

Vivo X Fold 6 price and availability

The top-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model is priced at 10,999 yuan, approximately Rs 1,52,584. A special Black Gold edition in the 16GB/1TB configuration is also available at 11,299 yuan, around Rs 1,56,768.

The phone comes in four colour options: Blue Hole, Salt Lake, Polar Night, and Black Gold, with the Black Gold variant exclusive to the top storage tier.

As of now, the X Fold 6 has launched in China, and there is no confirmed information on a global release date.
