12-foot python enters UP village, swallows nilgai calf before forest team captures it

A 12-foot-long python entered a village in Prayagraj and swallowed a nilgai calf. It left the villagers on edge for hours until forest officials captured the snake.

A 12-foot-long python caused panic in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj after it emerged from a field, entered a residential area and swallowed a nearly 20-kg nilgai calf in front of villagers.

The snake took around six minutes to consume the calf, while residents filmed the shocking encounter, with the video now going viral on social media.

The incident took place when villagers were working in the fields when they spotted the large python. Alarmed, they moved away as the snake crawled towards the populated area.

Its entry into the village prompted residents to bring children indoors and move goats and other livestock to safer locations. The python then caught a nilgai calf and constricted it before slowly swallowing the animal.

Several villagers filmed the shocking encounter on their mobile phones. The snake remained at the spot as villagers kept their distance and watched the unfolding scene. Around 42 minutes after swallowing the calf, the python regurgitated it.

The entire episode kept villagers on alert for several hours. Residents informed the police and Forest Department, following which teams arrived at the location to assess the situation and secure the area.

Forest officials eventually captured the 12-foot python and placed it safely inside a sack before removing it from the populated area.

The rescue brought relief to residents, who had spent hours keeping children and livestock away from the snake.
