  • NSUI seeks extension of verification portal by one month
  • Calls for manual re-checking and compensatory marks for affected students

The ongoing CBSE controversy has taken a new turn, with the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress Party, filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Delhi High Court seeking an inquiry into alleged large-scale irregularities in the digital evaluation system used for the CBSE Class 12 examinations.

The petition contends that students have faced significant hardships due to technical issues and alleged discrepancies in the evaluation process.

NSUI'S DEMANDS

NSUI President Vinod Jakhar has filed the petition, calling for an independent enquiry into the technical glitches and grievances associated with the Online Marks Submission (OSM) system. The plea also urges the court to direct CBSE to keep the verification and re-evaluation portal open for an additional month to allow affected students adequate time to seek redressal.

Further, the petition seeks compensatory marks for students who have received unexpectedly low scores or whose results remain disputed or unclear.

In addition, the NSUI has demanded the creation of a fresh verification window, physical re-evaluation of disputed answer sheets, and an investigation by an independent agency into the alleged irregularities affecting Class 12 results.

The plea specifically calls for manual re-checking and physical verification of answer sheets in cases where students have raised concerns about the accuracy of scanned copies or the integrity of the evaluation process.

The petition also seeks directions for the formulation and implementation of robust safeguards, protocols, and guidelines governing the digital evaluation system to prevent similar grievances in the future.

It further requests that CBSE be directed to award compensatory marks to students whose answer scripts are missing, illegible, or have been incorrectly evaluated through no fault of their own.

CBSE OPENS CLASS 12 RE-EVALUATION PORTAL

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the re-evaluation window for Class 12 students seeking a review of their board examination marks. Students who have already accessed the scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets can now apply for re-evaluation through the official CBSE portal.

The portal will remain open for verification and re-evaluation applications until June 6.
